Role in 'Love Master'

My character’s name is Lagna and it’s kind of a love triangle between Ria, I and Babusan. I play the role of a girl-next-door who falls for the hero and so does her best friend, which is played by Ria. This results in a lot of misunderstanding, but there’s a twist in the tale towards the end. I had fun shooting for this movie.

First Movie, First Shot

Coming from a non-filmy background, I was  nervous on the first day. It was such an experienced team at Baisi Pahache Kheliba Mina that guided me through the film. My first shot was with Rai Charan Das who was playing the role of my grandfather. The scene was an interaction between a college girl and her grandfather. Seeing me so nervous, Das sir actually began talking to me like my grandfather. My fear slowly faded, I was at ease and to my good luck; the shot was okayed in the first take.

Moreover, Sanjay Sir too went out of the way to teach me dialogue delivery and modulations since I was new to the industry. It was indeed a great honour to work with the team. On the day of my first schedule, I was a little edgy, but once the camera started rolling,it was all fine.

Ollywood Journey

I do not come from a film background, but I was anchoring television shows for Tarang channel for over two years. This is how director Sanjay Nayak spotted and approached me for a movie which unfortunately did not materialise for me as I was busy with my Plus II exams. As luck had it, Sanjay sir’s Baisi Pahache Kheliba Mina offer came to me just four days after my Plus II exams got over.

Family support

The director met my parents and only after they were convinced I was asked to go ahead. Although both my parents are bankers, they often visit me on my sets. They like the professionalism of the unit and above all, the shoots in the outskirts, dance and song sequences, everything.

What next

I have got some offers, but at the moment I am not sure if I can do movies for some time because of my studies. I have already missed two months of my engineering classes because of Love Master so I have to go back to college. I am in no hurry to take up another role. Besides, films are my hobby; I don’t want to rush into it and make wrong decisions.

Inspiration in Life

My parents - Swarnalata and Nirajan Mishra. I have been a very hyper-active girl. My mom had calmed me down and told me that I need to be disciplined if I am to continue as an actress. ‘Do what is expected and asked from you, be on time to the sets and don’t bother about others,’ she  often advises. She is my critic and very supportive in all the decisions I take.
